Vetter Windows

Vetter Windows is believed to have gone out of business. ( updated September 2013 )

Vetter Windows and Doors has been an exemplary home improvement company that stood for 125 years. Although the company has discontinued the production of windows and doors, previous owners are still being supported through the warranties that the company distributed.
For future customers, you might want to look at Peachtree Doors and Windows. This Vetter sister company offers the same quality of windows and doors once manufactured by Vetter. Vetter Windows and Doors had produced several materials for the homes of Wisconsin and nearby regions. Here are some of the windows types and how they are professionally installed and maintained.

Vetter Casement Windows

These casement windows are installed and completed within thirty days. The interior is laminated with paint, varnish, or PU (polyurethane) to maintain its pristine condition. The windows are regularly cleaned from air particulates such as dust and other organic materials. The hardware is also regularly lubricated to maintain smooth operation. Silicone-based lubricants are the best choice compared with petroleum because the latter remains wet and has a higher chance of collecting dirt and debris.

Casement Windows

Vetter Double Hung Windows

Regular maintenance of Vetter windows will keep them in good condition. Like the casement windows, double-hung windows need to be maintained by lamination and by lubrication. When cleaning this type of window, the sash can be tilted open.

Double Hung Windows

Vetter Rolling Windows

The maintenance for this type of window is similar to the casement and double-hung. However, when laminating or coating the sash section of the windows, apply only a thin layer of paint or varnish to avoid ruining the rolling mechanism of the window. Painting on a thick coat may also lead to the lessened thermal efficiency of the window. Lubricate the hardware to maintain a high-performance window (Silicone-based for wood or plastic; car wax for the rolling track).

Vetter Windows Review

Vetter windows are manufactured to lessen the chances of condensation. Condensation happens when there is a high level of moisture in the surrounding. Excessive condensation can be caused by several factors such as rain and snow, even the moisture found in soil. Damp areas around the house have high moisture content. You will know that condensation occurs when you notice beads of water on your window. Most of the windows double panes and having moisture in between the glasses may eventually lead to rotten wood (for wooden windows), peeling (for laminated windows), and growth of molds. This also obstructs the insulation of your windows. Vetter windows are designed to keep moisture away from your windows. Airtight windows may avoid the entry of moisture between insulated glasses. There are also some tips to keep condensation at bay:

Maintain maximum ventilation in the entire house, especially in wetter areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms. Occasionally allow warm air to enter and ventilate the house. Storm windows should be opened when condensation is noticed.

Vetter windows were distributed with a guarantee of lifetime performance. The customer is given a Vetter Craftsmanship Limited Warranty, which includes defective IG seal, aluminum-clad, and window material such as wood and vinyl.
